Muse du Jour

My name is Marianne Plumridge. I am an artist of mythic fantasy works, pulp science fiction, portraiture and fine art images. I also satisfy my creative muse with sewing, cooking, writing, reading, crochet, and jewelry-making. These have been my thoughts and adventures with whichever muse drives me each day but in the last year my return to jewelry-making has taken a more serious turn. So, for the time being, I'll show it here. You can find more of my art at https://daubdujour.blogspot.com/

Royal red...

"Red Queen Suite"
(Necklace & Earrings)  Price: $90.00

Had Garnets on my mind for a week before I began this necklace. I thought I had a solid idea in the beginning, but it didn’t pan out. So, experimenting with shapes and stuff using beads from Lisa’s hoard and David’s generous contributions from his mum’s stash, I eventually ended up with this as the final product. The Almandine Garnets are really lush in colour and I kept getting flashes of the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland while making it, hence the title. I chose bright silver elements to help bring out the brilliance of the stones. The heart dangle is a faceted beauty and adds to the Queen of Hearts theme, and the contrast between the square-ish and round beads gives visual texture. I made earrings to match the necklace because something of this magnitude would be difficult to find something to compliment it, otherwise. I had a blast making this, but had to research the glue and methods for attaching the heart because it was only half drilled. Got it perfect in the end, though. Strangely enough, this suite gives off Victorian vibes by way of India back in the day.
